MISS PEACH'S COZY COTTAGE

Welcome to the COZY COTTAGE. This is the furever home of the memory of Miss Peach, our 18 year old Devon Rex angel kitty. I am Miss Hunny Bunny, she asked me to pour you a cuppa catmint tea as you read our old fashion mewsings about this and that. Please come by often...one lump or two? Now our precious Hunny Bunny is also an angel cat...please let me be your hostess at the cozy cottage...my name is Miss Hope.

Remember...only in our tomorrows will we realize what we had in our yesterdays.

HUNNY BUNNY HAS OUCHIE EARS!

While mommy was petting Hunny Bunny yesterday morning she noticed some blood behind her right ear. Mommy pulled back her ear to look inside and saw black crummy stuff in there!!! This must be the work of blood sucking vampire ear mites she said!! OH NO what will we do today the Vet is closed on Sunday. Molly and Shadow's mommy kindly left her a Facebook message with a link to an informative site. We were able to decide to clean out the icky stuff with gel baby oil and a cosmetic pad...well actually SIX pads! Bunny was such a good kitty letting all of this happen to her inside the garage...she was not even scairty to be inside! Mommy made her so warm Friskies as a reward. Well it was suppose to be for Bunny...silly mommy thought I wouldn't get to it up on the counter in the corner while she put on her outside shoes! HAHA Mommy I am a very fast old cat when it comes to warmed up stinky goodness junk food. I Hoovered half of it in a flash. Then mommy took MY food from MY bowl and added it to Bunny's! No fair I say! Oh well, at least I don't have ear mites and need my ears torchered. What did you say mommy? I am getting a bath today!!??? RATZ!Lapdaddy will get some medicine for the vampire sucker bugs today. Have any of you kitties ever had ear mites? What did you do to deaded them? I never have.

When I got TT, she had ear mites so bad and I had never had a kitty have them before her. So thats how i discovered that information that was on that site. The next day I did go and pick some stuff up at the pet store, which seems to work well too - Gold Medal Pets Herbal and Botanical Ear Mite and Tick Control.

Gandalf had ear mites when Mom first adopted him at 3 weeks old. It is fairly common in kittens and feral. You vet will probably give you some drops to make them go deaded!

Oh, poor Honey-Bunny! I never had them but they surely make her scratch, hence tthe blood. I believe the eardrops will make them go away quickly. She is a very pretty cat and can be really glad that she's looked after!

Oh, poor Hunny Bunny! I'm so glad Mommy Karla is her guardian angel! Baby oil does work well in a pinch. The drops for mites contains something that will make them "deaded", nasty things!
Miss Peach how great you can still jump up on the counter to get some goodies! ;) I'm glad you were still able to share with Hunny Bunny.
I love the pin I won! I e-mailed you to let you know and the green papers should be there soon.
I hope it's a nice cuddly day at the Cozy Cottage.
Love to You always dear ones,
Lorianna

Good luck with the meds. We haven't had ear mites but they are pretty common on outside kitties.

I had earmites as a puppy at 6 weeks when mommy frist got me because I was outside with my birthmother. Mommy went online and found out a home recipe was a capfull of babyoil & a little rubbing alcohol, pour it in the ears, get a q-tip, stir it up & drain. Do this once a week until they are gone. They were gone the first time Mommy did it! I haven't had them since then! Good luck!

BAD NEWS-
We took care of a stray that used to have a lot of black tarry wax in his ears and sometimes there was a little blodd, which we put down to him scratching. I don't want to scare you, but it turned out he had a tumour on his brain in there, and this was related to it...
better get your garden cat checked and make sure it is mites!

GOOD NEWS-
on the other paw, Scooter always has disgusting ears, and I always have to clean them. Funny, Fluffy doesn't have the same trouble. It's just Scooter. Just the BOY. LOL! It is thick yucky black tarry stuff, but not smelly at all, and it is NOT mites, it's just some cats produce a little more in this department than others.

Best get it tested in a lab.

Snugs to the fuzzy one,
Helena

(Sorry if I scared you there)

Hi Sweet Miss Peach and Hi Hunny Bunny too!

I think warmed stinky goodness ought to be yours whenever you so wish. I had earmites when I was a tragic feral fella. I had to have the proper ear-mite drops from the vet to kill the mites and clear my ears. Twice a day. I haven't had them since, so it was worth it.

The vet said to be very careful about using herbal stuff on cats (and mostly avoid it)as our livers are very sensitive and can't cope with herbs or any essential oils. So we stick with the stuff from the vet.

Miss Peach I am sure you don't really need a bath, I cannot imagine you ever being grubby.

Miss Peach, Revolution is a flea treatment you can get from the vet. It also prevents ear mites and is easy to use, with just squeezing two drops on the skin on the neck. I use this flea treatment, and tolerate it much better than frontline. You may have to check if it is safe to use on momcat if she is still nursing any kittens.
