Do I look lovely on mommies new carpet? It covers up the ratty brown wall to wall stuff that we just can't manage to replace...oh kitties are we ever doing the happy dance at the cozy cottage!
I just love it....soft and beautiful just like me! This carpet is the most expensive item mommy has ever come home with from our Goodwill. It seems to be around 40 years old and has probably been in storage for most of that time. It had a moving company sticker on it from overseas so we think it might have belonged to a service member. Many years ago mommy brought just such a carpet over here from Germany. It was her dream carpet and she cherished it...but she had to give it away. Now the good Lord has rewarded her with one that is even prettier than the one she lost so long ago.
We never go to Goodwill on Mondays (senior Day 20%off) and that is when we found it. It is in perfect condition and the fringes are bright white still! Amazing!
Mommy did this search in eBay for a comparable and she found HER carpet! Yes you read right $3000-3500 is the price she remembers paying for hers...she was so blessed when she read the GW price tag...we won't tell you what it is but whoever guesses closest without going over will win a small prize! ReplyDeleteMe is not going to puts in a price because me thinks your Mommy deserves getting it! BUT me will tell yous, our Mommy got a 100% silk 1920's carpet that looked just like the one her grandmother had at a second hand sale at the Salvation Army. It had just come in and when Mommy saw it, she said, I have to have that! And when they only charged her $70 she gived them a $30 donation.

My human does not usually do Goodwill shopping (honestly, she barely does any in-person shopping at all), but you are inspiring her because our living room rug has just about worn out (that's what happens when two humans exercise on it every day for years). If you paid less than $299 for that rug, you got the deal of the century!
ReplyDeleteThat's GORGEOUS! Concats on the great find! We're guessing they didn't know what they had, either, and figure your mom got it for next to nothing, not more than $50, if even that. We don't know what your Goodwill pricing is like. Our Goodwill closed up years ago now. Our Value Village is pretty good, but they're expensive now too, have crazy pricing--some cheap items are priced high, some good names priced low. Guess it depends on who's doing the ticketing!

ReplyDeleteWow; it is indeed "a find" and a gorgeous one. Your mom has the best of luck at GW -- all I ever find is junk. We have people here who prowl the stores constantly, picking up the best things and reselling them. Oh well, that's a job for them and I can't begrudge them the opportunities.
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess $100 based on how they price things here. I'm surprised they didn't put it online as many GW places do. So your mom was very fortunate Hunny and you look gorgeous on that lovely carpet.

ReplyDeleteIch wünsche Dir so sehr, dass Du bei Ebay ein super gutes Schnäppchen gemacht hast und diesen schönen Teppich als Ersatz für den damaligen sehr sehr günstig bekommen hast. Aber trotzdem denke ich, hast Du noch mind. 300 - 500 § dafür bezahlt, oder?

ReplyDeleteWe were going to guess $125 but that was already taken, then $150...taken.
So we skimmed thru the guesses and decided to go higher. Goodwill pretty much knows collectable prices but they won't price it too high to sell. So we figured $250. Then mom remembered Goodwill prices stuff with a 9 at the end so we put $259.
Yes, we like Halloween, but mom doesn't drink tea or coffee.
